A Weekend In Bath

I spent a lovely weekend in Bath with my best friend Emma. We have a lovely relaxing weekend, of shopping, eating and drinking cocktails. I thought I would share what we got up to for the weekend, along with sharing the makeup essentials I took with me, the places we eat and bits and pieces I bought. It was a hectic week work wise so when it was time to go on Friday, I wasn’t fully prepared. Emma basically stood over me and guided the packing so I didn’t forget anything. Undies - check, toothbrush - check.. That kind of thing, good team work.

Makeup Essentials

I did however have my make up ready to go, Above is a peek of what I took with me. Quick run down is Nars light reflection foundation, the OG. Maybeline skin tint shade 06, thanks to Sinead for the tip, it’s a lovely light weight no make up look perfect for a day out shopping. The collection concealer from boots, shade 06 fair, it’s a cheap concealer but brilliant.

Huda beauty travel size setting powder, along with Charlotte Tilbury Flawless powder. Chanel creme bronzer, my ride or die, such an amazing cult product. Nudes Bloom cream blush Tiger Lilly, so much better than a powder, gives a lovely youthful glow.

They are sold out nearly everywhere but my sunshine drop from Drunk Elephant, worth every penny. Nyx lift & shift eyebrow pen, ABH brow gel, Nars eyeshadow base, Huda Beauty Eyeshadow pallet. Pat McGrath Elson 2 lipstick, Mac Reed lip pencil, Mac Stack Mascara, Becca Highlighter powder, Vieve Skin Dew, this is a stunning product, leaves a lovely high gloss glow. I pop it on my cheek bones and it looks stunning. Urban Decay All Nighter, Tweezerman pink of course, and finally some nice Joe Malone Fig & Lotus Flower. Just a few bits I hear you say.

Cocktails & Dinner

Night One - Dark Horse, Dough, The Hideout

We had a few pre dinner cocktails at The Dark Horse. This bar has been voted Top 10 best bars in the world by Tales of The Cocktail, and Top 3 in the UK. It is a lovely independent bar with a seasonal cocktail menu focused on fresh ingredients. It has a moody opulent feel to it. Dark vintage style decor, dimmed lighting, great art, such a cool venue. You could easily miss it, it is located underground on Kingmead Square. We went early so had no problem getting a table, but I would highly recommend booking, as it filled up very quickly. We had two very good cocktails, I started with a spiced rum espresso martini, followed by the house special margarita, both excellent. Emma has a vodka based raspberry fizz and then a very refreshing mojito. Would highly recommend visiting.

We then went for dinner at Dough, which is really good pizza restaurant. They provide proper sourdough stone baked pizza. You can choose your base which can be standard, turmeric, hemp or multigrain. I had a La gina which you can see in my pics which had a parmesan disc, totally delicious. Emma had Partigiana with lovely nduja on turmeric dough. Top class pizza, worth a visit.

Post dinner we went to The Hideout for post dinner cocktails. The Hideout is tucked away in the historical lanes of Tudor Bath, it’s a true gem. The cocktail menu is based on Hip Top Albums, very cool concept. I had a spicy Margarita which was lovely & Emma had a gin, raspberry, vanilla based cocktail. We sat outside which was heated and was lit by nice festoon lighting. It’s expensive £15 a cocktail, Emma had a massive slab of ice in her drink. The most expensive piece of ice we’ve very paid for !! You can only laugh.

Day Two - The Ivy, Guildhall Market, Bikanos Indian, Ring O Bells

Went went to The Ivy for brunch. I love The Ivy the decor, menu, drinks selection always very good. Myself and Emma both had eggs benedict which was very good. Coffee is good and strong and Emma had a nice fresh breakfast juice. Well fuelled ahead of our shopping trip.

Lots of shopping took place on today. I bought some lovely bits from COS. A plain white tee, along with a white & black stripy one. I also got an oversized black demin jacket for my Glastonbury fits. Getting in early for father’s day so picked up a nice light weight jacket from North Face for hubby. Went to space nk and got my favourite primer spf from Charlotte tilbury, along with my Nars shadow base which I have repurchased over and over. We also popped into Lululemon, I bought some undies, to help with the chaff. Having good underwear for running is a must and Lululemon have an excellent selection.

We had a little pit stop at Guildhall Market for afternoon tea, this is the oldest shopping venue in Bath, and has twenty or so stallholders. Very quant little place, with independently run businesses.

After full day of shopping that night we stayed local and went for a fabulous curry, at Bikanos. Absolutely no frills here, but the food is properly authenic. We had a lamb curry and a homemade chicken curry, with the thinnest garlic naan I’ve ever had. We also tucked into some paneer tikka which was just outstanding. Such an excellent find on our doorstep. We finished the night off with a few drinks in the local pub, Ring O Bells.

What a lovely city, we didn’t have time in our schedule to visit the famous roman baths. Next time.

A change from the usual update, hope you enjoyed. Sylv x
