5 Simple Fitness Habits to Start Today

Ok it’s a New Year, and all our feeds are full of fitness and health plans. Staying fit is hard especially during the colder months, it can feel like a chore (hello, comfy blanket and Netflix ). But fitness doesn’t have to mean long, grueling gym sessions. These five simple habits will help you stay active and help you to feel amazing without feeling overwhelmed.

1. Start Small: You don’t need to commit to an hour-long workout every day. Even 10 minutes of stretching or a quick walk around the block can work wonders for your mood and energy levels. My go-to? A quick morning walk with the dog and a mobility session to wake up my body and mind.

2. Make It Fun: Find an activity you actually enjoy— running, spinning, yoga or even dancing around your living room, trying a new fitness app, or braving a winter walk with friends. 3. Schedule It: Treat your workouts like any other appointment. Whether it’s a lunchtime Pilates session or an evening walk/run, blocking off time makes it easier to stick to your plan. When I have the time carved out in my diary I am more likely to commit to it.

4. Buddy Up: Accountability is everything. Text a friend to join you for a run or sign up for a virtual class together. Knowing someone else is counting on you makes skipping out way harder. I have a guest pass for my gym which I love to share with my hubby or friends, we do a class together and then get to chill in the spa. Perfect !

5. Reward Yourself: Celebrate the little wins! Finished a week of workouts? Treat yourself to a spa night, or a manicure or a new fitness gadget. I have just bought the new Apple Watch Ultra in preparation for running the London Marathon this April.
