Galentines

Valentine’s is one of those times of year that people either love or detest. I’m kind of in the middle. It’s a commercial play on spot lighting relationships, so by default excludes those who are not in one.

My parents always celebrated/recognised valentine’s. I remember my dad would always bring home flowers for my mum every year. My mum would make a nice meal for them both, or they would go out for dinner. The main things I took from it, was it made them both happy. So you do you, celebrate or ignore as you see fit. I will most likely be popping into M&S to see what nice valentine’s meal they have planned. No gifts required, just smutty cards, Thank you, Next!

Let’s take a moment for Mammy & Daddy… So Cute !

This week I am going to share some nice bits that I think us girls will like, so more of a ‘Galentines’ theme. I have had my eyes on a few of these bits, mostly in the theme of red, whether it’s for date night, dinner with the girls, or just because.

They are everywhere and I already have three pairs, but next on the Wishlist is the fabulous red Adidas Spezial. I just love the retro look, they look so awesome with wide leg jeans and a white tee. They come in so many different colourways, but sell out so quickly so get your notifications enabled for when your size comes back in stock.

If you are in the market for a nice cool t-shirt then check out the ones from Ganni the cat’s whiskers and Ganni brand are both embroidered, it is super soft and excellent quality. Look great paired with the trainers to bring the red’s together.

Those who know me know I love a leather jacket, I will do a dedicated post to leathers jackets in a few weeks. At last count I own 16! various colour, lengths, silver/gold/black buttons & zips, I love them, they just work with everything. They just add a sense of coolness to any outfit. One of my go to brands for leather jackets are All Saints & Reiss. Great quality soft jackets that last. This one from All Saints is their latest twist on a bomber, very cool.

Next up is a special purchase, the Gucci Marmont shoulder bag. I love this bag and have it in a few colours, it comes in various styles with a full chain strap, overflap or full zip, half leather, half chain like this one. Always elevates an outfit, and brings in a bit a colour where needed. It’s an investment for sure, but always looks great. Staying with Gucci these Jordaan loafers are next on my list. I bought a plain pair of black ones and they are very comfy and stylish. The leopard skin calf effect style, looks great with jeans and a white tee, again effortless style. There are loads of cheaper alternatives on the market here’s one from Boden.

Next up the best red lipstick on the market, if it’s good enough for Taylor Swift then it’s good enough for us girlies. Pat McGrath Mattentrance lipstick in Elson 2, a true pure red, lasts for ages and has a super nice texture. A red lip can do so much for any outfit and I am here for it.

I love these earrings from Missoma, different from a standard hoop with a squiggle finish. Wear solo or teamed with mini hoops for a statement ear stack.

I bought the famous Lip oil from Christian Dior for my daughter and she loves it. It feels nice and moisturising on the lips, doesn’t leave a sticky feeling, and adds a little blush of colour.

According to the fashion muse amongst us, silver is back in ! I used to love wearing silver, so I will need to bring all my bits back out of hiding. These hoops from Monica Vinader are a nice easy to wear hoop. Will look great in the summer, when we have our tan on.

Finally my favourite jewellery brand, Roxanne First. I just love the playful pieces they do, they are original and are completely different to the follow fashion you see, with the Cartier love bracelets & Van Cleef necklaces. I have a personalised diamond letter necklace which I wear everyday. I love this little pink sapphire heart necklace and this lovely gold ring with red rubies on each side. Individual quality pieces to wear year after year, that not everyone has. Which is it’s appeal for me.

Finally, everyone should own at least one cashmere jumper, the crew jumpers from M&S are actually really good. M&S is not just for your Nan you know ! This red jumper looks great with a relaxed pair of jeans and trainers or dressed up over a nice black silk slip dress. Either way so versatile, lovely and soft and they come in tons of colours if red isn’t your thing.

Skims, I love them! I know they are pricey but their underwear, shape wear & bodysuits are worth every penny. They are so soft, butter soft, wash well and look so good on. Take my money Kim! Here is the lounge wear, I love nothing more than chilling in my Joggers and Sweatshirt and these are fabulous. Very comfortable to wear, nice soft fleece fabric and of course they look stylish. I normally size up so they look oversized, perfect for doing zero sport.

I love a boot, but when I saw these western style boots from All Saints, I was sprinting to get my credit card. They are certainly a talking point, I am currently picturing in my head, how amazing they will look for festival season. It’s a no brainer, add to cart!

Hope you enjoyed this week’s Galentines update. Whatever you end up doing on Valentines, surround yourself with the people or fluffy animals you love. Adjust that crown, and remember you are a special edition of one, try to love yourself, the most important person of all. S x
