Winter Wardrobe Essentials
We are currently experiencing the coldest January in 15 years in the UK. Which means our winter wardrobes are being put to full use, but winter fashion is all about mastering the balance between staying warm and looking fabulous. No one wants to choose between style and comfort, and guess what? You don’t have to! Here are my go-to wardrobe essentials for a cozy yet stylish winter look.
1. The Oversized Knit Sweater: The MVP of winter. Chunky knits are not only warm but effortlessly stylish. Pair them with jeans or leather leggings for a sleek contrast, and don’t forget the ankle boots for a touch of edge. My personal fave? A cable-knit that looks amazing with gold accessories. Also if you are in the market for an affordable cashmere jumper M&S do really good ones which come is a variety of colours.
2. The Statement Coat: If you’re going to splurge on one thing this winter, make it a fabulous coat. From bold prints to classic camel, a statement coat instantly elevates even the most basic outfit. Tip: Belt your coat at the waist for a flattering silhouette. I bought a beautiful oversized wool coat at COS this year, which is super stylish with any outfit, but my splurge this year was, I finally managed to get my hands on a famous Charlotte Simone coat, so good I bought two! I also managed to get the black faux fur jacket that Sienna Miller did with M&S, a.k.a my Gorilla Coat !
3. The Perfect Boots: Knee-high, Chelsea, or a sleek ankle—boots are your best friends. Invest in a versatile pair that can go from casual to dressy with ease. I’ve been living in my black Chelsea boots this winter they’re the perfect mix of practical and stylish, and they don’t just have to be for winter, my boots have their summer outings also, especially for festival season, my cowboy Annie’s will be making their appearance at Glasto again this year.
4. Accessories That Pop: Scarves, hats, and gloves don’t just keep you warm—they’re your secret weapon to looking polished. Try a bold scarf, my amazing neighbour bought me this stunning scarf from Sezane, which I have worn so much this winter. Last year I bought some cool fingerless gloves for myself and my bestie, which we are seen modelling beautifully on an our dog walk. To add some interest with neutral outerwear, try this cashmere beanie with a pop of colour for some fun, bargin, from Anya Hindmarch with Uniqlo. And finally the ribbed wool balaclava so trendy this season, I love it !
5. Layer Like a Pro: Winter is the season of layers. Think polo necks under dresses, long cardigans over shirts, or thermal tops under everything. The key is to mix textures—like wool with satin or leather with cashmere—for a rich, layered look. And of course don’t forget your thermal socks. I feel like a granny writing that !
