The Fashion Trainers You’ll All Want To Wear

The time is definitely here to leave your heels at home, and embrace the amazing choice of must have trainers that are currently gracing the style conscious feet amongst us. The current trend goes from retro styles to dad like trainers. This get’s a big thumbs up from me, as it pairs comfort and style. In the 90’s it was all about Nike Air Max and Adidas Sambas, we have definitely done a full 360 with all these styles back in fashion and in high demand.

Trainers are no longer just for your trip to the gym, but for wearing with long flowing dresses, your wide leg jeans and as most teenagers today with their body cons.

Let’s start with the retros, my personal favourite, and I need to stop buying more! Adidas just own this space, when new colours are launched they literally sell out immediately. The sambas and spezial are leading the way, but the key is to buy the one’s with the gum sole not white, the gum shoe is just cooler. These are my favourite colours at the moment.

If you want something different to Adidas but still want to embrace the retro look then Onitsuka Tiger are a great alternative. I bought the Mexico 66 with the green and yellow mix. They are so soft and super comfortable. The leather is softer than the sambas, and not everyone has them which is certainly the appeal for me. Other options are Puma Palermo or if you have a bit of cash to slash then the Loewe Flow Runner are just so stylish.

Next up are the ‘dad like’ trainers, and New Balance are owning this style. They are chunky and effortlessly cool. The most popular ones are the 1960. They look great under long dresses, or wide jeans with a white t-shirt and blazer. I wear mine with cropped jeans and a chunky over sized knit. I went for the natural style so they go with everything. New Balance also have a ‘mum like’ style in the 327. Finally pair of new balance that are super popular, are the 550. They have a similar look to the Nike Air Force but are way cooler, they come in lots of different colour accents.

Next up is Nike, now are we over the Jordon’s yet? Never! Jordon’s will always be cool, my absolute favourites are the Air Jordan 1 Mid I have them in black and white, totally classic and looks amazing with everything. I will keep them forever. Alternatives and another classic are the Nike Air Max. I have had several pairs over the years. They are so comfortable with a nice sturdy sole, I love how you can customise them, which of course makes them totally unique to you. I am so here for that. These ones are next on my hit list.

Sticking with the retro theme, these are the alternative choice to sambas and will be the go to retro Nike trainer this summer, the lovely Cortez. Loads of colour to choose from but my favourite are the green ones.

Finally, it’s the high end trainers. Now I am partial to some posh high end trainers. My favourite no surprise are the Gucci Ace with the bee. If I am honest, too many people own them these days, but I do still love them. Very stylist and very comfy, the inner is full leather so can rub a little, until you soften them in, worth it!

Next Golden Goose, the selection of choice with GG is so good. A massive selection of different combos. I don’t actually own any, I have been tempted so many times, but I have defaulted to spending my money at Gucci. However my bestie bought the most unbelievable pair, full on covered in silver glitter. Totally epic and such a statement. I must tell her to wear them more often! She rocks them.

Final one is a bit of a wild card as they are not really known for trainers the Grenson sneaker 51. Now Grenson are famous for their handmade hiker boots, which have become trendy for festival goers. I have the nanette boots, and I pimped them up with pink & neon laces. I also have a pair of their biker boots. Everything they do is just top class. If you are looking for something different then these are a great choice, the mixed red & green are my favourite.

That’s it for this week, hope you enjoyed my trainers update. Next week in prep for St Patrick’s Day, I will talking all things Green. S x
