Stripes, They’re Everywhere…

This season stripes are stealing the spotlight, and unless you are living under a rock they are everywhere. Whether it’s the classic nautical vibes, bold statements with varying colours and widths, or playful touches with mixed in patterns. There will always be a place in my wardrobe for strips, it remains a constant favourite, no matter the season.

The thing about stripes is, those lines can either make you look like a sophisticated zebra or a laid-back referee, depending on your style, No comment on where I live!

First things first, let's talk about the versatility of stripes. They're like the chameleons of the fashion world, adapting to any style, mood, or occasion. From the classic stripes that scream "casual chic" to the bold, vibrant lines that shout "party animal," there's a stripe for every vibe.

We have to start with the classic the O.G Breton stripe, made famous by no other than Coco Chanel, the simplicity and versatility of this sophisticated pattern is a bit hit. I have several in the traditional black and white, they always look great with a simple blazer and jeans with flat shoes, or over a slip dress with chunky trainers. My favourite one is from COS they have lots of different twists on the classic. The quality of this t-shirt is excellent and it washes so well. An alternative one to try is & other stories and of course Boden is always a good choice. There is a lot of chatter about having a capsule wardrobe, well this t-shirt takes prime position.

Next you have a classic stripe shirt, simple 100% cotton, chucked on with a pair of relaxed jeans or over a pair of legging, tied at the front with some birkenstock. I bought a lovely blue and white shirt from M&S last year and it looks so chic and stylist, a nice light option coming into spring. I love this shirt from Whistles with the different combination of strips it make this shirt a little more interesting. This one from Hush is also gives lovely spring vibes.

Cardigans are one of my favourite items of clothing, it’s the nanny in me. They are like a cosy hug at all times! They look great over dresses, or a t-shirt with jeans, shorts whatever. This season there are some gorgeous options. I bought a fabulous green one from Hush a few years ago, which I get some may compliments on when I wear. I found this one which is similar, just stunning. Also it’s on sales girls ! And of course my obsession for Ganni continues with this totally stunning colourful option, I just love the details; look at those buttons. Finally, I had to include a classic breton of course, this one is from Karen Millen, I love the gold buttons.

Jumpers options again a classic from Cos and this absolutely stunning colourful jumper from Boden, I must say Boden have really upped their game lately, definitely not frumpy like it used to be. They have some lovely options. Finally this lovely fluffy stylish option from All Saints. This would look great with relaxed black jeans and paired with your favourite Adidas Spezial.

When it comes to trainers for stripes obviously Adidas own this space, check out my previous post on trainers and my love for sambas & spezials.

Some transitional bits to invest in are, these lovely socks from Genevevie Sweeney are just so cool. She does a sock subscription, something you never thought you’d need, but you get a new pair of ‘surprise’ sock each month. I subscribed for over a year and have a lovely collection of beautiful socks, the sparkly ones are my favourite of course.

I love this hat from Scamp & Dude, female founded brand with a purpose. I love the lighting bolt on all of their pieces.

My luxury piece this week is my lovely Burberry scarf. Technically check but for this update it’s stripes. I got this for Christmas a few years ago, it is 100% cashmere and I had my initials embroidered on it. I bought it in stone, which is a nice neutral shade, which just evaluates every look.

Is it too early to talk summer? Well lets get planning for our holiday options. Some stripy options to consider is this must buy Hunza G bikini. They are pricey but such a lovely fit, wash well and look amazing on. I bought a few pairs last year and I loved wearing them on holiday, very comfy and stylish. I am planning to do a full blog post on bikinis in a few months. I love this tote from Marc Jacobs, such a nice summery look about it, and finally I have had my eyes on this hat for a while, and this year it’s going on my holiday buy list.

So, there you go girlfriends, go forth, stripe up your life, and remember – fashion should always be a celebration of you, wear what you love.

Next week in celebration of St. Patricks Day, I will br sharing all things green.
